January 12 Vidudala: Anil Ravipudi Announces Venkatesh-Kalyan Ram Film Title

January 12 Vidudala is the official title of director Anil Ravipudi’s upcoming multi starrer starring Venkatesh Daggubati and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. The makers announced the title on August 19 along with the film’s confirmed theatrical release date, January 12, 2027, during the Sankranthi season.

The film was earlier referred to as VenkyAnil5 and NKRAR2. The title was unveiled through a humorous video featuring Venkatesh, Kalyan Ram, Keerthy Suresh, Krithi Shetty and Ravipudi. When the actors ask for the title, Ravipudi says “January 12 Vidudala,” leading them to believe he is announcing the release date. He then reveals that it is actually the title, while the movie will also arrive in theatres on the same day.

The announcement carries a strong nostalgic touch. The video opens with a reference to late filmmaker EVV Satyanarayana and his comedy Appula Appa Rao. The title also recalls the classic 1991 Telugu film April 1 Vidudala, directed by Vamsy, making the naming choice a clear nod to the quirky titles of older Telugu cinema.

The film features Keerthy Suresh and Krithi Shetty as the female leads. Its tagline, “Bava Bammardhi Soujanyamtho,” hints at the relationship between Venkatesh and Kalyan Ram’s characters, who are expected to be brothers in law.

The project was formally launched in Hyderabad on June 17, with the principal cast and crew attending the ceremony. The film has already completed its first schedule and is being produced by Sahu Garapati under Shine Screens, with Suresh Productions and Zee Studios backing the project. GV Prakash Kumar is composing the music.

The title has already triggered mixed reactions online, with some viewers appreciating its retro feel while others have called it overly quirky.

With Ravipudi again targeting the Sankranthi window, all eyes are now on what he has planned for January 12 Vidudala.
