Jana Sena Leader Undertakes Penance March Over Srivari Laddu Issue
A spiritually charged protest unfolded in Nellore on Saturday following allegations of impurity involving the sacred laddu prasadam at Tirumala . Acting on a call by Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, party leaders and devotees organised a large-scale act of atonement , saying the episode had deeply hurt the sentiments of millions of Hindus.
District senior leader Nune Mallikarjuna Yadav led the initiative by undertaking a ritual prostration march as an act of penance. The programme began at 8 a.m. with special prayers before he commenced a 4.5-kilometre penance procession , advancing through continuous prostrations.
Hundreds of party cadres, women supporters and devotees accompanied him along the route, chanting devotional hymns and expressing solidarity.
Addressing supporters, Mallikarjuna Yadav said remaining silent when Sanatana Dharma is perceived to be under threat is unacceptable. He stated that the penance was undertaken in line with Pawan Kalyan’s appeal and demanded strict accountability for those allegedly responsible.
The nearly three-hour-long programme concluded peacefully, marking a significant expression of faith-driven protest in the district.
