'Jana Nayagan' to Stream on ZEE5 From August 21

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor C Joseph Vijay's final theatrical film, 'Jana Nayagan', is set to make its digital premiere on ZEE5 Tamil on August 21, 2026. The film will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, giving Vijay's fans across multiple southern-language markets an opportunity to watch his farewell film online. ZEE5 has officially listed the film for streaming from August 21.

Directed by H Vinoth, 'Jana Nayagan' stars Vijay as Vetri Kondan, an upright former police officer who confronts corruption and injustice. The film also features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, Nassar and Narain in key roles. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music.

The film, which was initially subject to release delays, eventually arrived in theatres on July 23. Its theatrical run has been commercially strong, with trade reports putting its worldwide gross above ₹320 crore by August 18.

The OTT release comes shortly after the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court closed a case concerning allegations that the film had inaccurately portrayed Papapatti village. The court's decision removed a legal issue that had attracted attention ahead of the digital premiere.

Beyond its commercial performance, 'Jana Nayagan' carries particular significance in Vijay's career as his last film before his full-time political career. The actor-turned-politician's transition has made the film an important milestone for his fans and the Tamil film industry.

ZEE5 Tamil announced the streaming date on social media, describing the film as a landmark title and highlighting its action, emotional and social themes. With its theatrical run nearing its conclusion, the August 21 OTT premiere will now take 'Jana Nayagan' to a wider audience across southern India.
