'Jana Nayagan' Director H Vinoth Rejects Leak Conspiracy, Calls It Political Propaganda

With 'Jana Nayagan' set to hit theatres on July 23, director H Vinoth has firmly rejected allegations that the film was deliberately leaked to politically benefit Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay during the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, calling the claims baseless and politically motivated.

Addressing reporters ahead of the release, Vinoth said the accusations had caused significant distress to the team behind the Rs 400-crore production. He questioned the logic behind claims of an intentional leak, arguing that any deliberate act involving such a high-profile project would have been uncovered quickly by investigating agencies.

The filmmaker also pointed out that Vijay was not in power when the leak surfaced, making the allegation even less convincing. According to him, such narratives were circulated only to gain political mileage, while the public had already seen through them.

Responding to criticism that Vijay did not publicly urge people to avoid watching the leaked version, Vinoth said any appeal from the actor-politician would likely have triggered fresh controversy. He explained that detractors could have questioned why Vijay chose to comment on a film leak instead of other pressing public issues.

Calling the leak a purely legal matter, Vinoth said the producer lodged the complaint and the police handled the investigation. He added that Vijay deliberately stayed away from the issue to prevent unnecessary political debate.

Reflecting on the six-month delay between the original January release plan and the eventual July launch, Vinoth described the period as emotionally exhausting but expressed relief that the film was finally reaching audiences.

Speaking about the adaptation of the Telugu blockbuster 'Bhagavanth Kesari', he said 'Jana Nayagan' retains the original theme of fear but expands it into a larger political narrative exploring how fear influences society and governance.

Vinoth also revealed that he personally approached Vijay's team for the project and praised the actor for standing by the producers during difficult times, expressing confidence that audiences would deliver the film's true verdict.
