Jaitaran Records 161 mm Rainfall as IMD Forecasts Easing Monsoon Across Rajasthan

Several parts of Rajasthan received light to moderate rainfall over the past 24 hours ending Monday morning, while some areas in the state experienced thunderstorms and heavy showers, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The Pali district witnessed heavy to very heavy rainfall, with Jaitaran recording the state's highest rainfall at 161 mm during the reporting period. The intense spell contributed significantly to rainfall totals in the district, making it one of the wettest locations in Rajasthan over the past day.

The IMD said that rainfall activity was observed in eastern Rajasthan, where several places received light to moderate showers. In western Rajasthan, scattered areas experienced light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

Weather officials said the monsoon trough is expected to shift northwards from Monday, leading to a gradual reduction in rainfall across the Jodhpur, Udaipur and Kota divisions over the coming days. As a result, these regions are likely to witness comparatively lighter rainfall activity.

However, the department has forecast light to moderate rainfall at isolated to scattered locations in the Bikaner division, Shekhawati region, and the Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions between August 3 and August 5.

The IMD noted that rainfall intensity will continue to vary across different parts of the state during this period, with localized showers and thunderstorms remaining possible in several districts. Residents have been advised to stay updated with local weather forecasts, especially in areas prone to heavy rain and waterlogging.

According to the latest forecast, the ongoing southwest monsoon is expected to remain active over parts of Rajasthan, although rainfall distribution is likely to become more uneven as the monsoon trough shifts northward.
