'Jailer 2' Gets Different Ticket Prices In Andhra Pradesh And Telangana

Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited sequel, 'Jailer 2', is drawing attention for its contrasting ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, even as its overseas advance bookings trail those of his previous release, 'Coolie'. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the action entertainer is scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on October 15, 2026.

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a temporary ticket price hike for the film, allowing an additional Rs 50 for single screens and Rs 75 for multiplexes. The decision surprised some moviegoers, with netizens questioning why a dubbed Tamil film received permission for higher ticket prices.

Meanwhile, the Nizam distributor has reportedly decided to retain regular ticket rates in Telangana, at Rs 175 for single screens and Rs 295 for multiplexes. The contrasting pricing strategies could influence audience turnout, particularly among moviegoers looking to watch the sequel without paying enhanced ticket prices.

The film’s advance booking trend has also become a talking point. Domestic bookings are opening in phases, with full-fledged sales expected to gather pace as more theatres open their booking windows. Overseas advance bookings, which began earlier, have reportedly crossed Rs 11 crore, with the United States emerging as a major contributor.

However, the reported overseas pre-sales remain below the benchmark set by 'Coolie'. Five days before its release, 'Coolie' had reportedly recorded $3.78 million in advance bookings, compared with the $1.62 million currently reported for 'Jailer 2'. The figures reflect advance sales at a particular stage and are not final box-office collections.

With distribution rights reportedly sold at substantial prices across markets, the sequel faces considerable commercial expectations. The next few days will be crucial in determining whether stronger bookings can narrow the gap and build momentum ahead of its release.

Backed by Sun Pictures, 'Jailer 2' brings Rajinikanth back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The ensemble cast includes Vidya Balan, Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Suraj Venjaramoodu and S. J. Suryah, alongside prominent appearances by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Vijay Sethupathi. Anirudh Ravichander returns as composer, reuniting with Nelson and Rajinikanth after the success of the original 'Jailer'.
