'Jailer 2' Creates Tamil Cinema History with ₹807 Crore Worldwide Collection
Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2' has created a major box-office milestone by crossing the ₹800-crore mark worldwide within 18 days of its theatrical release. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, the action entertainer has reportedly collected ₹807.25 crore globally as of November 1, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.
The film's worldwide earnings include ₹533.75 crore gross from India and ₹273.50 crore from overseas markets. Its domestic net collection stands at ₹456.30 crore. On its 18th day, November 1, the film earned ₹11.20 crore net across 8,906 shows in India, registering a 15.5 per cent increase over the previous day's ₹9.70 crore.
With this achievement, 'Jailer 2' has become the first Tamil film to enter the ₹800-crore worldwide club and surpassed Rajinikanth's 2018 science-fiction blockbuster '2.0', which had collected approximately ₹723.30 crore worldwide. It has also emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film in India. The film reportedly surpassed the estimated worldwide lifetime collections of Bollywood hits 'PK', starring Aamir Khan, and 'Chhaava', featuring Vicky Kaushal. It has also secured the position of the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2026, behind 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'.
Rajinikanth reprises his role as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, who faces another dangerous confrontation with the criminal underworld. The ensemble cast includes Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, S. J. Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Suraj Venjaramoodu, among others.
The film's music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has also contributed to its popularity. Meanwhile, its strong overseas reception and fan celebrations, including Singapore police trainees recreating the popular 'Hukum' sequence, have added to the film's cultural impact.
With upcoming releases such as 'Ramayana' expected to bring fresh competition, the film's lifetime box-office total remains to be seen. All collection figures are trade estimates and have not been officially confirmed by the producers.
