Jai Hanuman sequel kicks off with grand pooja at Hanuman’s believed birthplace
The much-anticipated Telugu superhero sequel Jai Hanuman officially went on floors with a traditional pooja ceremony held at Anjanadri Betta in Hampi , Karnataka. The sacred hill is widely revered as the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, adding spiritual significance to the launch.
Directed by Prashanth Varma , the film marks the next chapter in the filmmaker’s ambitious superhero universe. National Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty headlines the project, portraying Lord Hanuman. He is joined by Teja Sajja , who reprises his role from the earlier installment, and Rana Daggubati in a pivotal role.
Music for the sequel will be composed by Oscar-winning maestro M. M. Keeravani , raising expectations for a powerful and mythologically rich soundtrack.
Jai Hanuman follows the phenomenal success of Varma’s 2024 blockbuster Hanu-Man , which emerged as the biggest pan-India Telugu film of the year. Made on a modest budget of around Rs 20 crore, Hanu-Man went on to gross over Rs 300 crore worldwide, stunning the industry and audiences alike. The film is widely credited with launching India’s first indigenous superhero cinematic universe, blending Indian mythology with modern superhero storytelling and VFX-driven spectacle.
Building on that legacy, Jai Hanuman aims to scale up the universe with grander visuals, epic action sequences, and a deeper mythological narrative centered on one of India’s most revered deities. Extensive VFX work and large-scale production values are planned to meet global standards, the makers said.
With filming now underway, Jai Hanuman is targeting a theatrical release in 2027 and is already being touted as one of the most ambitious Indian superhero films in the making, carrying forward the momentum of India’s homegrown superhero multiverse.
