Minister Achchennaidu severely criticized Jagan Reddy for shedding crocodile tears over the plight of onion and tomato farmers. If Jagan has a heart that really cares about the plight of the farmers, why is he exploiting the farmers in his regime? They complained that Jagan, who has no sincerity towards the farmers, is now acting as a false sympathizer. He recalled that soon after the coalition government came to power, special measures were taken for onion and tomato farmers, purchase centers were set up and support prices were paid. He said that Jagan has no right to talk about subsidized prices and farmers. Minister Achchennaidu made it clear that standing by the farmers does not mean drama, but showing results at the field level. Farmers shed tears during Jagan's rule...now his tears are nothing but crocodile tears.

Jagan is making false campaigns that at present onion farmers are not being supported, market dynamics will decide whether the prices rise or fall in the market, and when the prices fall, we will give justice to the farmers by providing support price for the agricultural products. He said that when the prices increase, we will provide the products at reasonable prices to the consumers in the form of a subsidy. He said that we have announced a support price of 1200 regardless of the quality after predicting that onion prices will fall in 2025. He said that first through the Mark Fed, the government directly bought onions from the farmers by paying 1200 per quintal and sold them through farmers' markets.

He said that as the farmers brought the crop to the market at one time in excess of the demand, the market difference price was announced...If the price is less than 1200 quintal, the government will pay the rest of the money to the farmers. He said that if onion prices fall in 2016, we will buy 2.77 lakh quintals from 7723 farmers and pay 7 crore rupees to the farmers, and in 2018 we will buy 3.48 lakh quintals of onion from 9740 farmers and pay 6.45 crore rupees. In the year 2025 we have purchased 9014 quintals of onions for farmers markets till 15th of this month. 53239 quintals were collected by Mark Fed. 15292 quintals of onion were procured directly by traders. 51268 quintals of onion were procured by Mark Fed & private traders under price differential scheme. He said that 5.97 crores worth of onion has been procured by 931 farmers through Mark Fed, of which the government will pay 4.25 crores to 752 farmers under price differential.

During Jagan's tenure, in the year 2020, the YCP government cheated the farmers by declaring a nominal support price of Rs.770/- per quintal if onion prices fall in 2020. Even if the farmers committed suicide, Jagan's heart did not melt.. You bought onions from only 250 farmers by giving 75 lakhs, you are talking about the farmers. He said that it is surprising that the former CEO of a corporate company has revealed things that are causing loss to the people, saying that while onion is being sold at 12 to 15 rupees per kg in the farmer's markets, it is 34 rupees per kg in the private company's Big Basket. In 2020, when onion prices fell during your government, how many people bought and how many crores were given to the farmers during your time? It is important how we treated the farmers during the time of differences in market prices.. We have exposed the difference between the previous government and this government with examples.

Jagan's bad propaganda on tomato

Minister Achchenna said that Jagan and Co have created false information that the price has come down and the goods will come to the market in excess before the prices fall in the market. Last year i.e. 2024-2025 due to low prices we procured 1677.50 metric tonnes of tomato worth Rs 2.00 crores from the farmers of Rayalaseema region and sold them through the farmers markets of the state without any profit loss from December-2024 to March-2025. In the year 2025-26, due to low prices in the months of April & May, we purchased 1141 metric tonnes of tomato worth 1.25 crores from the farmers and supplied them to the farmers markets of the state without any loss of profit.

Till today we have purchased about 75 metric tons of tomatoes and supplied them to the farmers markets of the state without loss of profit. He said that 3780 metric tons of tomato crop was collected during the YCP regime and 4672 metric tons of tomato crop has been collected since the formation of the coalition government till today. He said that they are highlighting low-quality crops in some markets, they are dealing with the farmers without the least sincerity and creating false stories and deceiving the farmers, due to which the market will fall further. Minister Achenna suggested to Jagan that we are taking steps to buy from the farmers and sell them in the farmer's bazaars, and that we have not reached the level that you claim to support the farmers.
