Jagan’s North Andhra tour: Seven constituencies on route

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is scheduled to visit Narsipatnam on October 9, marking his first trip to North Andhra after the party’s recent electoral setback. Party leaders have meticulously planned the route, covering seven constituencies to maximize outreach and impact.

After a series of field-level tours focused on farmers’ issues, Jagan is now turning attention to North Andhra, a region where YSRCP had faced heavy losses in the previous elections. Political analysts describe the visit, particularly to Narsipatnam constituency, as a strategic move aimed at consolidating support in TDP bastions.

YSRCP claims that during Jagan’s tenure, the state government approved 17 medical colleges, completing five of them and starting admissions. The TDP, however, alleges that construction work has remained stagnant. Against this backdrop, Jagan plans to personally visit ongoing projects and explain his government’s achievements to the public while countering criticism from opposition parties.

The Narsipatnam visit will include a tour of the under-construction medical college, a choice seen as politically significant. Analysts note that North Andhra is traditionally a stronghold of TDP, and Narsipatnam is represented by TDP’s influential leader, who has been a vocal critic of YSRCP in the assembly. By visiting this constituency, Jagan aims to launch a direct campaign against the TDP while reinforcing YSRCP’s presence in the region.

The route map has been designed to connect seven constituencies, allowing Jagan to meet diverse groups, including Visakhapatnam steel workers and stakeholders in the bulk drug industry. Party strategists have emphasized engaging with local communities along the route to strengthen grassroots support.

Jagan is also expected to reiterate his administration’s commitment to bringing private medical colleges under government supervision, continuing a promise made earlier. All eyes will be on his remarks during the Narsipatnam visit, which could set the tone for YSRCP’s strategy in North Andhra ahead of upcoming political battles.
