Former minister Kurasala Kanna Babu criticized the state government, stating that several key welfare schemes benefiting tenant farmers were originally introduced during Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure.

Speaking at a press conference, he said that the Crop Cultivator Rights Act (CCRT) Act, which ensured Rythu Bharosa benefits for tenant farmers, was removed after Chandrababu Naidu came to power. “Rythu Bharosa, zero-interest crop loans, crop insurance, and compensation for crop loss - these schemes were all brought in by Jagan. He is the only leader who ensured full support for tenant farmers,” he said.

Kanna Babu also accused the current government of failing to fulfill its own election promises. He claimed that Chandrababu had promised to provide ₹20,000 per farmer under the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme, instead of continuing Jagan’s Rythu Bharosa or relying on PM-Kisan. “It’s already been a year since he made that promise, and nothing has been delivered,” he said.

He alleged that nearly seven lakh farmers were left out of Rythu Bharosa this year and that the government has avoided spending close to ₹17,000 crore that should have gone to farmers. “The numbers being shown this year are completely misleading,” he added.

Kanna Babu further said that after the coalition government took charge, RBKs (Rythu Bharosa Kendras) were weakened, and farmers were no longer getting fertilizers at affordable prices. He accused Chandrababu Naidu of trying to claim credit for initiatives introduced by Jagan.

He also criticized the government for failing to provide adequate support to farmers affected by the recent Montha cyclone. “Chandrababu did more publicity than actual relief work. Farmers received no meaningful compensation,” he alleged.

Concluding his remarks, Kanna Babu said that while many parties may choose to stand by Chandrababu Naidu, the YSR Congress Party would continue to fight on behalf of the people.
