Jagan departs for London; Party leaders assigned ‘Rachabanda’ task

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy departed for London on October 10 for a fifteen-day personal visit. He obtained court permission for the trip and is scheduled to return on October 23, after the sanctioned period ends.

Ahead of his departure, Jagan instructed party leaders across the state to continue the “Rachabanda” programme in his absence. The leaders have been tasked with collecting one crore signatures from the public on various issues. These collected signatures are expected to be submitted to the Governor upon his return. Analysts note that the initiative reflects Jagan’s leadership style of delegating responsibilities to party officials while he is away.

There are also pending concerns regarding Jagan’s appearance before the CBI court. Previously, the central investigative agency had raised objections to his absence during court proceedings. The CBI court has directed him to appear in person. It remains to be seen whether Jagan will attend the hearings after returning from London or seek exemption through a petition.

This trip marks a significant period for the party’s organisational activities, as leaders are expected to actively manage the state-level programmes in the absence of the party president.
