Jagan Alleges Political Vendetta, False Cases Under Coalition Government

YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday accused the ruling coalition government of worsening the state's law-and-order situation and using police cases to target political opponents.

Jagan made the allegations after visiting YSRCP MLA Viruupakshi at a local jail. He claimed the government was pursuing “political vendetta” and warned that those responsible for the present situation would eventually have to face the consequences.

Jagan alleged that under the TDP-led coalition government, victims were being portrayed as accused and false cases were being filed to suppress the opposition. He particularly accused the government of targeting BC leaders and YSRCP supporters.

Referring to Viruupakshi's case, Jagan alleged that fabricated cases had been registered against the MLA, his relatives and supporters, with names repeatedly added to the list to make the number of accused appear larger. He described this as part of what he called the “Red Book Constitution.”

Jagan also alleged that police entered Viruupakshi's residence late at night, damaged CCTV cameras and arrested the elected representative. He claimed that an alleged attack on the MLA's wife by a TDP supporter, during which her clothes were allegedly torn, was subsequently used to register an SC/ST case against the MLA.

At the same time, Jagan alleged that police did not register a case despite evidence concerning an attack on a YSRCP worker's house.

Jagan said Viruupakshi had gone to protect party worker Hari after allegedly receiving no response from police. He claimed TDP supporters later attacked the MLA's vehicle while Hari was being taken to safety, seriously injuring the MLA's brother.

He also cited the cases involving Sidiri Apparaju, Mustafa and Chintada Ravi, alleging that authorities had either intensified charges or arrested them on false allegations.

Jagan warned that political circumstances would not remain unchanged and said those implementing the “Red Book Constitution” would eventually regret their actions.

He also alleged that police photographed him in an inappropriate manner during his jail visit, contrasting it with his claim that his government had initiated police reforms during his tenure as chief minister.
