ISRO to observe srivari brahmotsavam for first time

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board of Trustees has announced a new initiative to construct 1,000 temples across Andhra Pradesh, with a focus on countering religious conversions. TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu stated that up to six temples will be built in each assembly constituency, with the funding to be sourced from the Srivani Trust. This decision was a key outcome of the recent board meeting, which primarily focused on the arrangements for the upcoming annual Srivari Brahmotsavam.

Chairman Naidu shared a detailed plan for the festival, which is a major event attracting millions of devotees. The Brahmotsavam is scheduled to be inaugurated on September 23, with the main festivities running from September 24 to October 2. A significant highlight of the festival will be the ceremonial flag hoisting on the 24th, following which Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his wife will offer silk robes to Lord Venkateswara.

In a move to manage the massive crowds, the TTD board has decided to cancel all VIP break darshans that are based on recommendation letters for the entire ten-day period. This is expected to streamline the darshan process for general devotees. The TTD anticipates a record attendance of over 3 lakh people for the highly revered Garuda Seva on September 28.

In addition to crowd control measures, the TTD is leveraging technology to enhance safety and security. A new geo-tagging system will be implemented to help prevent children from getting lost in the dense crowds. A significant and unprecedented collaboration was also announced: the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will observe the Brahmotsavam for the first time, likely to assist with crowd management and monitoring using satellite technology.

Following the board meeting, TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, alongside Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal and other board members, officially released the Srivari Brahmotsavam booklet for 2025. This booklet provides a comprehensive guide to the events and rituals of the nine-day festival.
