Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma Star as India Crush Zimbabwe by 90 Runs to Seal T20I Series

Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma smashed brilliant half-centuries before India's bowlers produced a disciplined performance to defeat Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second T20 International on Saturday, sealing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The victory also marked Shreyas Iyer's first T20I series win as India's captain after successive series defeats against Ireland and England.

After being asked to bat first, India suffered an early setback at 29/2 with the dismissals of Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Kishan steadied the innings with a 66-run partnership alongside skipper Shreyas Iyer (25) before adding a match-defining 94-run stand with Tilak Varma.

Kishan played a superb knock of 81 off 44 balls, reaching his fifty in 31 deliveries before accelerating in the latter stages. Tilak provided the perfect support with an unbeaten 60 off 29 balls, bringing up his half-century in just 23 balls. The duo dominated Zimbabwe's bowlers in the closing overs as India amassed 61 runs in the last five overs to finish on a formidable 219/5.

Chasing 220, Zimbabwe started aggressively through Brian Bennett, who struck 32 off 19 balls, but debutant pacer Yash Thakur dismissed him to trigger a collapse. The hosts lost wickets at regular intervals and were never able to recover from the early setbacks.

Only Ryan Burl and Tadiwanashe Marumani offered brief resistance as India's bowlers maintained complete control. Abhishek Sharma starred with the ball, returning figures of 3/17, while Yash Thakur claimed 2/30 on debut. Prince Yadav picked up 2/10 before leaving the field with a suspected hamstring injury. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 129 in 17.5 overs, handing India a comprehensive victory.

The emphatic win secured the T20I series for India with one match remaining, and the visitors will now look to complete a 3-0 clean sweep in the final game.
