Police in South Goa have dismantled an alleged Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket operating out of a rented house, arresting four persons during a late-night raid, officials said on Sunday.

A team from the Verna police station conducted the operation on Saturday night at a residence in the Shindolim area of Sancoale village, near Vasco. The accused were reportedly caught red-handed while accepting bets on an IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Pranjal Tiwari (23), Amar Dawda (33), Shashank Kumar Sahu (19), and Sandeep Singh (23). According to police, they hail from Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and had been staying in the rented premises for some time.

During the raid, officers seized multiple electronic devices and cash allegedly used for betting activities. The recovered items include 10 mobile phones , 2 laptops , a tablet , an internet router with a signal receiver , and ₹37,000 in cash . Police believe the equipment was part of a coordinated setup to facilitate online betting operations.

A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act. Authorities are now probing further to ascertain whether the racket has links to a larger betting network operating in the region.

Police officials said investigations are ongoing, and more arrests cannot be ruled out as efforts continue to trace the extent of the illegal operation.
