Interstate LeT Module Case: NIA Secures Custody Of Five Arrested Operatives
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the case related to the recent bust of an interstate Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module and secured custody of five arrested operatives , including two Pakistani nationals , for further questioning, officials said on Monday.
The case stems from a major counter-terror operation carried out by Jammu and Kashmir Police on April 7 , when a wider support network of LeT was unearthed. The module was allegedly involved in providing logistics, financial assistance and operational support to terror activities across multiple locations, indicating a deep-rooted interstate and cross-border structure .
Among those arrested was Abdullah alias Abu Hureira , a key operative who had been absconding for nearly 16 years and is believed to have helped rebuild terror bases outside Jammu and Kashmir. Another major arrest was Usman alias Khubaib , a Pakistani national , along with three Srinagar residents Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid, and Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama .
Officials said the probe revealed that the module functioned as a coordinated network engaged in recruitment, movement support, and funding channels for LeT operatives, with links extending beyond the Union Territory.
After taking over the investigation, the NIA produced all five accused before a special court in Jammu , which granted custody for further interrogation. The two Pakistani nationals were remanded to two days of NIA custody , while the three local accused were sent to 15 days of custody .
The agency is expected to probe the full extent of the interstate linkages, foreign involvement, and financial trail behind the module as part of its continuing investigation into terror networks operating in the region.
