Interpol reveals record 76-Tonne Global Drug Bust; Fentanyl Seized enough to kill 151 million!

Interpol has just announced the results of its largest-ever global drug operation , revealing the seizure of a staggering 76 tonnes of narcotics across dozens of countries — including India. The operation exposed the vast scale of international drug trafficking and highlighted the deadly threat of synthetic opioids like fentanyl.

According to Interpol, the fentanyl confiscated during the crackdown alone carried the potential to kill 151 million people — nearly half the population of the United States. Officials called the haul a wake-up call for governments worldwide as cartels and traffickers expand their reach through global supply chains.

The operation, which spanned multiple continents, targeted trafficking networks dealing in fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, and new synthetic drugs. Authorities also uncovered hidden drug labs, seized firearms, and dismantled smuggling routes that stretched from Latin America to Asia and Europe.

India was among the countries where seizures were made, underscoring the country’s growing vulnerability to the spread of synthetic drugs and its central role in the international fight against narcotics.

Interpol officials stressed that the bust demonstrated the necessity of global cooperation to combat increasingly sophisticated trafficking networks. “No country is immune. This operation shows the devastating global reach of drug cartels,” an official said.
