Intelligence Bureau recruitment for 362 posts, last date to apply 14th Dec

A recruitment notification for 362 Multi-Tasking Staff (General) posts has been issued by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and the online application process has been opened from 22 November 2025. Eligible Indian citizens are being invited to apply through the official website mha.gov.in or the National Career Service (NCS) portal, and the deadline for submission has been set as 14 December 2025.

These vacancies are being filled under Group C, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial service, and selected candidates will be placed under All-India transfer liability, meaning postings can be made across any of the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIBs).

A total of 362 posts are being offered across 37 SIBs, and the category-wise distribution has been fixed at 160 (UR), 72 (OBC-NCL), 42 (SC), 54 (ST) and 34 (EWS). The highest number of vacancies have been allotted to Delhi/IB Headquarters (108), followed by Itanagar (25), Mumbai (22), Srinagar (14), and Trivandrum (13). The allocation for PwBD and Ex-servicemen categories has been centralized, as mentioned in the official notification.

Applicants are required to have passed Matriculation (Class 10) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized board. A domicile certificate of the state for which the post is being applied must be possessed by candidates as on 14 December 2025.

The age limit has been fixed at 18 to 25 years, with relaxations being provided as per Government of India norms: five years for SC/ST, three years for OBC, and extended limits for departmental candidates, widows, divorced women, PwBD candidates, meritorious sportspersons, and ex-servicemen.

The posts are being offered under the Level-1 pay matrix (₹18,000 – ₹56,900). A Special Security Allowance at 20% of the basic pay will also be provided, along with other admissible central government allowances. Cash compensation for duties performed on holidays will be granted, subject to a ceiling of 30 days.

A two-tier examination structure has been prescribed.

Tier-I

Tier-I will be conducted as an online objective-type MCQ examination for 100 marks, with one hour allotted. Questions will be set from General Awareness (40 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (20 marks), Reasoning (20 marks) and English Language (20 marks). A negative marking of ¼ mark per wrong answer will be applied. Minimum cut-off marks have been fixed at 30 for UR/EWS, 28 for OBC, and 25 for SC/ST candidates.

Tier-II

Tier-II will be held as a descriptive test on English language and comprehension for 50 marks, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, and a paragraph writing task of 150 words. This tier will be of qualifying nature, and candidates must secure 20 marks to qualify.

The examination dates for both tiers are yet to be announced by MHA.

Applications for the IB MTS Recruitment 2025 are required to be submitted exclusively through online mode, and candidates must ensure that a valid personal email ID and mobile number remain active throughout the recruitment process. Applicants are required to upload a recent passport-size photograph (100–200 KB), their signature (80–150 KB), a valid photo ID proof, the Class X marksheet and related certificates, as well as any additional educational certificates, if applicable. The prescribed application fee must be paid through SBI EPAY LITE using net banking, credit or debit cards, UPI, or challan, and once the application is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn or modified, including the category and SIB preferences. The notification was issued on 22 November 2025, with the application process beginning the same day and closing on 14 December 2025; the last date for online fee payment is also 14 December, while challan payments through SBI will be accepted until 16 December 2025. The dates for the Tier-I and Tier-II examinations will be announced later by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
