
Intelligence Bureau Invites Applications for 362 Multi-Tasking Staff Posts
The Intelligence Bureau (IB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has released a notification for the recruitment of 362 Multi-Tasking Staff (General) posts across various Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIBs) nationwide. Eligible Indian candidates are invited to apply online through the official Ministry of Home Affairs website or the National Career Service (NCS) portal. The application process commenced on November 22, 2025, and will close on December 14, 2025.
These positions are classified under Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial roles and carry All India Transfer liability. Applicants must have completed Matriculation or an equivalent qualification from a recognized board and possess a domicile certificate for the state they are applying from. Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years of age as of the closing date, with age relaxation provided to SC, ST, OBC, ex-servicemen, widows, meritorious sports persons, and persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD), in accordance with government rules.
The 362 vacancies are distributed across 37 Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux. The highest number of posts has been allocated to the IB Headquarters in Delhi (108), while other bureaus have between 1 and 25 vacancies. Reservations for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD, and ex-servicemen candidates have been applied centrally and as per the category-wise allocation announced in the official notification.
Selected candidates will be offered a Level-1 pay scale (₹18,000–56,900) in the pay matrix, along with admissible central government allowances and a Special Security Allowance of 20% of basic pay. Additional compensation will be provided for duties performed on holidays, up to a ceiling of 30 days.
The selection process will include a two-tier examination. Tier-I will be an online objective test consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions, covering General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical/Analytical Reasoning, and English Language. A negative marking of 0.25 marks per incorrect answer will be applied. Tier-II will be a descriptive English test aimed at evaluating comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and paragraph writing skills and will be of qualifying nature.
Candidates must register online using a valid email ID and mobile number and provide scanned copies of a recent passport-sized photograph, signature, identification proof, and educational certificates. Application fees and recruitment processing charges must be paid online, and applications once submitted cannot be withdrawn.
The Intelligence Bureau has emphasized that the choice of SIB and candidate category cannot be altered once submitted, and applicants are advised to fill all details carefully.
