
Intelligence Bureau Announces 362 Multi-Tasking Staff Vacancies
A recruitment notification for 362 Multi-Tasking Staff (General) posts has been released by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, and online applications have been invited from eligible Indian nationals. The registration process began on November 22, 2025, and will remain open until December 14, 2025, through the official website of the MHA ( www.mha.gov.in ) and the National Career Service portal.
The posts have been notified under Group ‘C’, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial category and carry an All-India transfer liability. The vacancies have been distributed across 37 Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIBs), with the highest number reported from the Delhi/IB Headquarters unit. A total of 160 vacancies have been earmarked for the Unreserved category, followed by 72 for OBC, 42 for SC, 54 for ST and 34 for EWS candidates. Reservations for PwBD and ex-servicemen are being made on a centralised basis.
As per the notification, candidates must have passed Class X (Matriculation) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. A domicile certificate of the state for which the candidate is applying has also been made mandatory as on the closing date. The age limit has been fixed between 18 and 25 years as of December 14, 2025, with statutory relaxations being provided to reserved categories, departmental candidates, widows or divorced women, sportspersons and PwBD applicants.
The selection process has been structured into two stages. Tier-I will be a computer-based exam comprising 100 objective-type questions covering General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and English Language. A negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer will apply. The cut-off for Tier-I has been prescribed as 30 marks for UR and EWS, 28 for OBC and 25 for SC/ST candidates. Tier-II will be a descriptive test intended to assess basic English comprehension, grammar and paragraph writing, and will carry 50 marks. It will be of qualifying nature, with 20 marks set as the minimum qualifying score.
The posts will carry a Level-1 pay scale of ₹18,000 to ₹56,900 along with admissible central government allowances. In addition, a Special Security Allowance at 20 percent of the basic pay and cash compensation for duty performed on holidays, subject to a maximum of 30 days, will be provided.
Candidates have been advised to keep a valid e-mail ID, mobile number, scanned photograph, signature, identity proof and academic certificates ready before beginning the online registration process. Applications can only be submitted once, and no changes to category, sub-category or SIB preference will be permitted after submission. The application fee and processing charges will be payable through SBI’s online payment channels or challan.
