
Innovation Boost: Waste & Recycling Startup Hubs on the Way, Says Kommaredy Pattabhiram
In a major step toward modernising waste management and fostering youth-driven innovation, the Swachh Andhra Corporation has announced an ambitious statewide initiative in partnership with the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science and Technology (APCOST) .
Corporation Chairman Kommareddy Pattabhiram revealed that comprehensive waste management projects and startup incubation centres will be established across the state to encourage scientific thinking and sustainable solutions. He made the announcement during his visit on Friday to the APCOST Regional Science Centre at V.D. Puram, Bhavanipuram, Vijayawada , where he reviewed ongoing activities and outlined the future roadmap.
Addressing officials, Pattabhiram emphasised that providing a strong platform for young innovators is a key priority of the government. He noted that the global waste management sector is poised to evolve into a trillion-dollar industry in the coming years, and expressed confidence that the state’s youth can play a pivotal role in this transformation.
“The focus is not merely on waste disposal, but on converting waste into wealth through innovation ,” he said, underlining the need for sustainable and technology-driven approaches.
During his meeting with Professor K. Sharath Kumar , Member Secretary and CEO of APCOST, discussions were held on strengthening sanitation infrastructure, utilising CSR funds , and enhancing environmental protection initiatives. Pattabhiram observed that adopting scientific methods in sanitation can ensure long-term growth and assured that action plans are being prepared to deliver results aligned with government objectives.
He also lauded the proposed ‘Swachh Badi’ programme , aimed at promoting environmental awareness and hygiene among school students. Officials expressed optimism that the collaboration would strengthen the state’s environmental ecosystem and lay a solid foundation for future-ready development.
