Influencer arrested for objectionable video with Russian tourist at Gwalior Fort
A social media influencer has been arrested for allegedly uploading an objectionable video featuring a Russian woman tourist at the historic Gwalior Fort in Madhya Pradesh, police said. Authorities confirmed that the matter is under active investigation, including digital evidence recovery and tracking of the video’s online circulation.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Manish Yadav, the incident occurred two days before the arrest when a group of foreign tourists visited the fort. The accused, identified as Radhe Gurjar, allegedly persuaded a Russian woman tourist to participate in filming a reel, which she believed would be a normal social media video.
Police said that during the shoot, the accused allegedly used abusive language and made obscene remarks in Hindi without the woman’s knowledge or understanding, as she did not speak the language. Despite this, she reportedly continued smiling during the recording.
The video was later uploaded on social media, after which it went viral and triggered complaints. A case was subsequently registered under the Information Technology Act , police said.
Officials stated that the accused initially fled after the incident but was later apprehended and brought back to Gwalior . The uploaded content, they added, had damaged the image of Gwalior Fort and raised concerns over tourist conduct at heritage sites .
During questioning, the accused claimed that the video had been deleted and issued an apology, assuring that he would not repeat such actions. However, investigators are still verifying his claims and examining digital records, platform traces, and forensic data to establish the full sequence of events.
Police have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing and no final decision has been taken regarding further legal proceedings beyond the FIR.
