Infibeam Avenues Ltd, through its AI deep research company Phronetic AI, has developed India’s first agentic payment platform, PayCentral, which enables autonomous Agent-to-Agent (A2A) digital payment transactions without human intervention.

The platform is designed as an intelligent payment infrastructure layer that can integrate seamlessly with payment gateway providers such as CCAvenue, Stripe, and PhonePe, allowing their merchant networks to deliver faster, automated, and more intelligent consumer payment checkout experiences. A senior company executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated that PayCentral allows AI agents to negotiate, initiate, and settle payments in real time, providing a fully autonomous system.

The platform targets sectors with strong digital customer identities, such as travel, OTT subscriptions, insurance, and financial services, where verified digital addresses like mobile numbers and email IDs enable instant transaction completion. “PayCentral closes the last-mile gap by allowing a merchant’s AI shopping assistant to communicate directly with a payment gateway’s AI agent, completing payments with minimal customer intervention, apart from a few consent steps,” the executive explained.

PayCentral is built on Google’s Agent Payment Protocol (AP2) and operates atop multiple Payment Aggregators’ Model Context Protocols (MCPs). This architecture creates a unified, autonomous, and auditable payment layer, enabling AI agents to dynamically generate payment links, manage recurring subscriptions, process refunds, and reconcile accounts in real time. CCAvenue, a brand under Infibeam Avenues, is already integrating PayCentral into its ecosystem, potentially bringing A2A payment capabilities to thousands of merchants nationwide.

The launch comes amid strong growth in India’s digital economy. According to Research and Markets, the digital insurance market is expected to grow from USD 2.09 billion in 2025 to USD 3.71 billion by 2030, at a CAGR of 12.2%. Mordor Intelligence forecasts that the online travel market will expand from USD 23.1 billion in 2025 to USD 33.9 billion by 2030, while Grand View Research projects online movie ticketing revenues to reach USD 4.75 billion by 2030, growing at 8.6% annually.

Industry trends show that businesses increasingly rely on messaging platforms such as WhatsApp to distribute digital offers. However, these often stall at the point of purchase due to the lack of a fully automated payment option. PayCentral addresses this gap by enabling AI-driven checkout, ensuring that digital offers translate into completed transactions.

Experts say the rise of agentic AI, capable of reasoning, negotiating, and acting independently, could significantly alter digital commerce operations. AI-powered shopping assistants can now handle product discovery, logistics, and payments autonomously, creating efficiencies and faster transaction cycles for businesses.

The executive added, “If successful, PayCentral could mark a turning point in India’s digital payments evolution, representing a step toward a world where AI systems not only communicate but also transact securely, instantly, and intelligently.”

Infibeam Avenues has not issued an official comment on the launch at the time of publication.
