Indore MBA Student Murder: Classmate Strangled Her, Performed Occult Rituals

A 24-year-old MBA student was allegedly strangled to death by her classmate in Indore, who later “mistreated” her body and performed occult rituals while on the run, police said after a preliminary investigation on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shrikrishna Lalchandani said the case surfaced on February 13 after residents in the Dwarkapuri police station area complained of a foul smell emanating from a locked house. When police forced entry, they found the naked body of the woman inside the rented accommodation of her classmate. The victim was pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at a city college.

The accused had fled the city after the incident and was later traced and arrested in Mumbai. He is currently being interrogated.

Referring to the initial findings, the DCP said the accused allegedly confessed to strangling the woman. Police said the two were in a close relationship, but the accused suspected that she was speaking to other men. “Enraged over this suspicion, he killed her and fled,” Lalchandani said.

Investigators further revealed that the accused admitted to “ mistreated the body ” after the killing. In a shocking development, police said he also performed alleged witchcraft rituals near Panvel in Navi Mumbai while absconding. During questioning, he claimed he was mentally disturbed after the murder and attempted to communicate with the woman’s spirit through occult practices.

Meanwhile, the victim’s father alleged that the accused had been trying to extort money from his daughter by threatening to circulate her obscene photographs. He claimed that some such images were even posted in her college WhatsApp group.

Police said the allegations are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
