IndiGo to Shift 12 Daily International Departures to Navi Mumbai Airport From February
IndiGo will shift 12 daily international departures from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to the new Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) from February 2027, as part of a phased expansion of international operations.
The transition, being finalised by IndiGo and Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL), will cover existing services connecting Mumbai with Bahrain, Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Kuwait, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat, Dhaka and Jakarta.
The airline will also introduce a daily service to Kathmandu, taking its international network at NMIA to 12 destinations between February and July 2027, the companies said in a joint statement. IndiGo will shift the domestic connectivity required to support these international flights to Navi Mumbai, enabling passengers to connect between domestic and international services at the new airport.
The move is expected to strengthen Navi Mumbai’s role as a second aviation hub for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region while easing capacity constraints at CSMIA. The shift will free up capacity at the existing airport for IndiGo to introduce new international services across Asia, Africa and Europe in 2027, using its expanding fleet of A320 and A321 aircraft, including A321XLRs.
It will also contribute to capacity reductions required for the redevelopment of CSMIA’s Terminal 1 by 2030. IndiGo and AAHL will coordinate arrangements to accommodate further adjustments to the airline’s operations at Terminal 1 within Terminal 2 as redevelopment progresses.
The companies said the phased transition would take into account airlines’ respective presence at CSMIA, helping minimise operational disruption and provide greater certainty for airlines and passengers.
Final dates for flight transfers and new services will be announced after coordination is completed and the necessary operating approvals are secured. Passengers will need to check their departure airport carefully as operations shift between the two facilities.
IndiGo operates more than 430 aircraft and nearly 2,200 daily flights, connecting over 95 domestic and 40 international destinations, according to the airline. AAHL, part of Adani Enterprises Ltd, operates eight airports, including Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
