
IndiGo Temporarily Suspends Flights to Middle East Amid Airspace Restrictions
IndiGo on Saturday temporarily suspended flights to and from the Middle East in view of the evolving situation in Iran and airspace restrictions in the region.
“In view of evolving airspace restrictions around Iran and the Middle East, all flights to and from the Middle East are cancelled till 0000 hrs IST ,” the airline said in a post on X, clarifying that the suspension would remain in force until midnight.
According to sources, services have been suspended to and from Dubai, Jeddah, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Bahrain, Sharjah, Kuwait and Ras Al Khaimah . The airline said the decision was taken with the safety and security of passengers and crew as the highest priority .
“Our teams are continuously monitoring the evolving situation and recalibrating operations to minimise disruption as much as possible,” IndiGo said, adding that updates would be provided as the situation develops.
Meanwhile, Air India Express said it has suspended all west-bound international flights in view of the developing situation in parts of the Gulf region. The airline stated that it is closely tracking developments and will proactively review and adjust its operations as necessary.
Earlier, Air India said its Delhi–Tel Aviv flight was returning to India following the closure of Israeli airspace . The flight was scheduled to land in Mumbai.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in parts of West Asia, leading to precautionary measures by Indian carriers to ensure operational safety and compliance with airspace advisories. Airlines are expected to review the situation periodically before resuming normal services.
