Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago lauded PM Narendra Modi’s visit to her country earlier this year, describing it as a historic milestone that deepened bilateral cooperation and reinforced the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Speaking at an event organized by Jaipur Foot USA, PM Persad-Bissessar highlighted the tangible outcomes of the visit, noting India’s contributions across healthcare, education, and humanitarian initiatives. “The people of Trinidad and Tobago were truly overwhelmed by PM Modi’s visit. It provided a remarkable opportunity to strengthen our cooperation and lay the groundwork for shared prosperity,” she said.

During his visit, PM Modi personally contributed dialysis machines and laptops, underscoring India’s commitment to social development. One of the standout initiatives resulting from the visit is an artificial limb fitting camp scheduled in October, which will provide free prosthetics to 800 people. Prem Bhandari, Chairman of Jaipur Foot USA, emphasized India’s growing global influence, noting that the country has risen from the world’s 10th largest economy to the fourth and is on track to become a developed nation before 2047.

PM Persad-Bissessar praised the humanitarian impact of the initiative and India’s leadership on the global stage. She highlighted PM Modi’s push for South-South Cooperation, noting that India’s outreach has strengthened connections among diaspora communities and supported Trinidad and Tobago’s successful bid for a UN Security Council seat.

“The visit was not only historic but transformative,” she said. “It is a testament to enduring friendship, strategic collaboration, and a shared commitment to the welfare of people in both our countries.”
