India’s campaign at the World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals came to a disappointing end as they suffered a comprehensive 0-3 defeat against Austria in the Round of 32 in London on Tuesday. Despite moments of promise, the Indian side struggled to sustain momentum against a clinical Austrian lineup.

The tie began on a competitive note with Manush Shah showing resilience against Robert Gardos . Shah took the opening game confidently and pushed the contest into a decider, displaying grit and composure. However, the Austrian edged the final game 13-11 , sealing the match after a hard-fought 46-minute battle and giving his team an early lead.

Trailing 0-1 , India found themselves under pressure, and the momentum quickly shifted. Manav Thakkar was outplayed by Daniel Habesohn , going down in straight games in a swift contest that lasted barely 10 minutes. Soon after, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran also fell short despite a slightly longer fight, losing to Andreas Levenko in straight games.

The defeat marked a swift and decisive exit for India, highlighting both the promise and the gaps that remain at the highest level of international table tennis.
