India’s Teenage Boxing Sensation: 27 Medals Confirmed in Asian Championships Dominance

Indian boxing continues its impressive rise on the continental stage as the young contingent assured itself of 27 medals at the Asian Boxing U15 & U17 Championships in Tashkent on Wednesday. The performance underlined both depth and aggression, with India producing a near clean sweep in several categories.

The U15 girls’ team led the charge, securing an outstanding 14 out of 15 possible medals , while the U15 boys’ squad matched the intensity by guaranteeing 13 out of 15 medals , setting up what could be a landmark finish for the country.

The boys added further weight to India’s campaign with a series of dominant performances marked by decisive finishes. Sastha Vasanth Ashok Kumar (37kg) and Parshant (49kg) delivered clinical displays, stopping their UAE opponents Mohammed Albannai and Mayed Alyammahi in the very first round through RSC verdicts.

Continuing the aggressive momentum, Nitin (40kg) and Harshvardhan Jeena (55kg) secured second round RSC wins against Kazakhstan’s Sayat Mengdibay and Tajikistan’s Muhammad Fozilov , showcasing India’s attacking strength across divisions.

Not all victories came easy, as Yash Kumar (33kg) and Rohit Pothina (35kg) had to dig deep in tightly contested bouts, both earning hard fought 4:1 split decision wins over Tajikistan’s Rasuljon Karimov and Mongolia’s Temuulen Munkhbayar .

India also registered commanding unanimous decisions. Samir Bohra (43kg) outclassed Thailand’s Chutinan Yaram , while Nongpoknganba Meitei Oina (46kg) delivered a clean 5:0 victory against Mongolia’s Munkh ochir Ganzorig . Mohd Yasser (58kg) completed the strong showing with another dominant 5:0 win over Kazakhstan’s Meiirlan Beissekhan .

With such a commanding run, the young Indian boxing squad has firmly stamped its authority at the championship, signaling a promising future for the sport in the country.
