India’s Sheetal Devi crowned World Archery’s Para Archer of the Year

India’s remarkable para archer Sheetal Devi has added another milestone to her inspiring sporting journey after being named ‘Para Archer of the Year 2025’ by World Archery , recognising her extraordinary performances on the international stage.

The 19 year old athlete from Jammu and Kashmir has become one of the most inspiring figures in global para sports. Born without arms , Sheetal developed a unique technique that allows her to shoot arrows using her feet, legs and shoulder , a skill that has stunned audiences and competitors across the world.

Her breakthrough moment came at the World Para Archery Championships in Gwangju, South Korea , where she scripted history by becoming the first and only female armless archer to win a gold medal . She clinched the women’s compound individual title , establishing herself as one of the most dominant athletes in the sport.
