Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has highlighted India’s growing focus on indigenous defence technology, particularly in space and cyber warfare, during a symposium in Ranchi. Speaking to defence experts and policymakers, Gen. Chauhan acknowledged that while India’s efforts in indigenising defence manufacturing began relatively late, the country is now on a promising path.

He emphasized the importance of strategic weapon selection and a robust research and development framework to meet modern warfare challenges. The CDS also stressed the need to expand India’s defence manufacturing base, integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and quantum computing to strengthen capabilities in space and cyber domains.

Among the initiatives cited was Mission Sudarshan Chakra, a multi-layered defence system designed to safeguard critical infrastructure from cyberattacks and missile threats, reflecting India’s commitment to self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat policy.

Gen. Chauhan’s remarks underscore the nation’s push to modernize its defence sector while prioritizing indigenous innovation and technological advancement.
