India’s Medal Run Continues with 4 More on Day Three at Youth Weightlifting C’ships

Indian weightlifters continued their strong and consistent performance at the Commonwealth Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships and the Universal Cup, adding one gold and three silver medals on the third day of competition in Apia, Samoa on Wednesday.

Leading the charge was Bellana Harika , who delivered a commanding performance in the 69kg category. She lifted a total of 197kg (86kg+111kg) to secure the gold medal at the Commonwealth Youth and Junior Championships, underlining India’s growing depth in the sport at the junior level.

In the 63kg category, Karangi Tharangini and Bhumika Mohite added to India’s medal tally with strong silver winning performances. Tharangini registered a total of 179kg (79kg+100kg) , while Mohite produced 195kg (109kg+86kg) to finish second in their respective events.

In the Universal Cup segment, Abhishek Nipane also made his presence felt, clinching the silver medal in the 88kg category with an impressive total lift of 324kg (140kg+184kg) .

India had already set the tone earlier in the competition with four gold medals on the second day , and the latest results further strengthen their overall campaign in Samoa. The consistent podium finishes reflect the rising standards of Indian youth weightlifting on the international stage, with athletes showing both strength and composure under pressure.
