At an outreach event in Lucknow, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat emphasised the need for social harmony, family values, and cultural reforms to strengthen India internally. Speaking at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan and earlier at Lucknow University, he stressed that national unity rests on societal cohesion, and urged citizens to identify as Hindus first, rather than by caste, sect, or language. According to him, caste divisions are gradually weakening, especially among the youth, and once caste loses social relevance, politics centred around it will also change .

Bhagwat highlighted that the RSS does not promote caste identity within its ranks , calling on society to move consciously beyond such divisions. He underlined the importance of religious education within families , and said annual family gatherings help preserve traditions and pass on values to younger generations. “A good family builds a good society,” he said.

On cultural matters, he stated that while modernity is intrinsic to Indian civilisation , blind adoption of Western ways is undesirable. He advocated for temples to be freed from government control , managed instead by devotees and religious leaders. Referring to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad , he said efforts are underway to ensure temple resources are used for national interest and community welfare .

Bhagwat also showcased the RSS’s development work in 5,000 villages , highlighting 333 villages where initiatives in education, dispute resolution, and local employment generation have shown significant progress. He concluded by encouraging citizens to attend RSS shakhas to better understand the organisation’s work and contribute to nation-building.

While he briefly mentioned India’s future role in the Global South, the core focus of his addresses was on social cohesion, Hindu values, and community development.
