India’s elite schools enter new Ivy League

EducationWorld, in association with AZ Research Partners Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, released the 19th annual EducationWorld India School Rankings (EWISR) 2025-26, evaluating over 4,500 schools across 518 cities and towns. The survey, based on responses from 9,500 parents, teachers, principals, and educationists, assessed schools on 14–15 parameters including academics, teacher competence, co-curricular activities, sports, infrastructure, and student well-being.

In a first, EWISR introduced a new “Ivy League” category, recognizing the nation’s “best of the best” schools that consistently dominate rankings across key excellence parameters. Ivy League schools share a #1 rank but are differentiated by 1–5 star ratings, reflecting nuanced differences in overall performance. This innovation signals a maturing Indian school ecosystem where sustained excellence is celebrated alongside wider inclusivity.

The survey methodology, involving structured one-on-one interviews and a ‘quality over quantity’ approach, enhances credibility and accuracy, ensuring that schools’ rankings reflect real-world perceptions and performance.

Top Ivy League schools this year include Inventure Academy, Bengaluru; Vasant Valley School, Delhi; The Cathedral & John Connon School, Mumbai; Daly College, Indore; Rishi Valley School, Chittoor; Mayo College, Ajmer; The Doon School, Dehradun; Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai; Oberoi International School, Mumbai; and The International School Bangalore.

Trends indicate a growing emphasis on holistic education, teacher welfare, and student well-being. International schools and legacy institutions maintain prominence, while boarding schools continue to attract attention for leadership and extracurricular excellence.

From a financial perspective, top-ranked schools are increasingly seen as investment-worthy institutions, with premium fees justified by superior infrastructure, curriculum innovations, and alumni outcomes, signaling long-term growth opportunities in India’s private education sector.
