India's Biggest Sports Icons Sachin Tendulkar, Shubman Gill and Abhinav Bindra Break Silence on Students' Agitation

India's sporting fraternity has thrown its weight behind the students protesting against repeated exam paper leaks, with Sachin Tendulkar, Shubman Gill, Abhinav Bindra, Manu Bhaker, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif, Nihal Sarin and Shikhar Dhawan urging authorities to restore trust in the education system and ensure justice for affected aspirants.

The growing support from some of India's biggest sporting names comes as nationwide protests continue over the alleged NEET exam paper leak, with students demanding accountability and reforms after multiple reported student suicides linked to the controversy. Protesters have also sought the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while clashes between demonstrators and police have left people injured on both sides.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar said society must value merit over shortcuts, stressing that students' disappointment is understandable when years of hard work fail to receive fair recognition. He urged everyone to work together to ensure such situations do not recur.

India captain Shubman Gill echoed the sentiment, expressing respect for those protesting peacefully. He said education has the power to shape the country's future and appealed for compassion, mutual respect and decisions that keep students' interests at the forefront.

Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra highlighted the importance of an education system that rewards merit, inspires confidence and creates opportunities for young people. He called for collective efforts to strengthen the system so it remains a source of hope and innovation for future generations.

Young chess Grandmaster Nihal Sarin described the issue as deeply painful, saying the immense pressure faced by students preparing for life-changing examinations should never be undermined. He insisted that serious issues like paper leaks demand accountability rather than being ignored.

Former India cricketers Mohammad Kaif and Irfan Pathan also voiced concern. Kaif said it was heartbreaking to see students being lathi-charged during protests, while Pathan stressed that no student's dreams should be shattered because of exam paper leaks. He expressed confidence that authorities would ensure every deserving candidate receives a fair opportunity.

Former opener Shikhar Dhawan, while acknowledging students' aspirations, appealed for patience and urged dialogue, saying lasting solutions can only emerge through trust in institutions and constructive engagement.
