The Embassy of Nepal and the Global Trade & Technology Council (India) (GTTCI) jointly hosted the 4th Global Diplomacy Gala Night 2026 at the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi on November 2, bringing together more than 150 diplomats representing over 55 diplomatic missions. The gathering emerged as one of India's biggest-ever congregations of the international diplomatic community.

Held as part of GTTCI's annual Diwali diplomatic celebrations, the event provided a platform for ambassadors, high commissioners, policymakers, government officials and business leaders to strengthen international relationships and explore opportunities for cooperation. More than 30 officials from the governments of India and Maharashtra also participated.

The gala's theme, "Creating Partnerships in Education, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Healthcare and Technology," highlighted the growing importance of international collaboration in addressing shared development challenges. These five sectors are increasingly central to global economic growth and sustainable development.

A major highlight was the launch of the GTTC India–Nepal Forum by Nepal's Chargé d'Affaires, Dr. Surendra Thapa, alongside GTTCI Founder President Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Chairman Dhiraj Dhar Gupta and members of its board. The forum aims to strengthen bilateral trade, investment, infrastructure development, tourism, healthcare and technology cooperation by connecting businesses and institutions from both countries.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Surendra Thapa highlighted the deep cultural connections and longstanding people-to-people ties between India and Nepal. He emphasised that cultural celebrations such as Diwali, also observed as Tihar and Deepawali in different traditions, help promote mutual understanding and goodwill.

Dr. Gaurav Gupta described India and Nepal's relationship as roti-beti, rooted in shared traditions, family ties and centuries-old cultural connections. He said the newly launched bilateral forum would help take this friendship further through trade, investment and cooperation.

The gala also featured cultural performances, including Ganesh Vandana, Indian and Nepali dances, international artists and a saxophone performance, showcasing the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening international friendships.

Distinguished attendees included former Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, former CBI Director Dr. D. R. Kaarthikeyan, author Shiv Khera and Dabur Group Chairman V.C. Burman, among others.
