Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan has affirmed that India’s armed forces are fully prepared to face evolving warfare scenarios, emphasizing that modern military challenges demand constant adaptation, reforms, and innovation . Speaking at the 216th Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal , he highlighted the commitment of the Indian military to maintain high operational readiness at all times , even during periods of relative calm.

General Chauhan noted that while the intensity of operations has temporarily reduced , “Operation Sindoor” continues , demonstrating the sustained vigilance and preparedness of India’s forces. Addressing newly commissioned officers, he said they are joining the Air Force at a time defined by 24/7, year-round operational readiness , as the armed forces undergo a deep structural and strategic transformation .

He underscored that India’s military reforms focus on jointness among the Army, Navy, and Air Force, integrated operations, and self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat) . These initiatives are designed to enhance India’s defence capabilities and ensure strategic autonomy .

Explaining the guiding principle “JAI” to young officers, the CDS elaborated:

J – Jointness:

Operating as a unified force across all services. A – Atmanirbhar Bharat: Developing indigenous defence platforms and systems, not just for India but also to provide credible capabilities on a global scale. I – Innovation: Encouraging proactive thinking, risk-taking, and technology-driven solutions.

General Chauhan emphasized that traditional battlefields will remain challenging , but future conflicts will increasingly require intelligence-driven strategies, rapid decision-making, and innovative approaches . He stressed that forces capable of crossing conventional boundaries and adapting to emerging threats will succeed in future warfare .

India has already made notable advancements in defence technology , including the integration of AI-enabled decision support systems, precision-guided weapons, and advanced surveillance platforms . Indigenous systems such as Tejas fighter jets, Arjun tanks, BrahMos missiles, Light Combat Helicopters, and autonomous drones enhance operational efficiency, situational awareness, and self-reliance, while reducing dependence on imports.

By combining structural reforms, technological innovation, and strategic modernization , the CDS reinforced that India’s armed forces are agile, future-ready, and committed to safeguarding national security amid a rapidly changing global security environment.
