British MP and Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe has come under intense criticism after a series of social media posts targeting Indians and Pakistanis , remarks that have sparked accusations of racism, fuelled online trolling and intensified political tensions ahead of a key by-election in northern England.

Lowe, who was elected to Parliament as a member of Reform UK before breaking away following a bitter dispute with Nigel Farage, has emerged as one of the most hardline anti-immigration voices in British politics. His Restore Britain party, launched earlier this year, has positioned itself further to the right of Reform UK and is campaigning on strict immigration and cultural policies.

The controversy erupted after Lowe wrote that Britain should not “import millions of Pakistanis and Indians” to do jobs that unemployed Britons could perform. He also defended demands that migrants speak English and contribute more than they receive from society, insisting such views were not racist.

Lowe has also called for bans on the burqa , sharia courts , cousin marriage , halal slaughter and the kirpan in public spaces. He further pledged to “reverse mass immigration” and deport foreign extremists.

His comments triggered widespread backlash online, with critics highlighting the contribution of Indian and Pakistani professionals to Britain’s healthcare, technology and service sectors. Social media users also mocked Lowe’s remarks through memes and sarcastic posts, while others accused him of stoking division for political gain.

The dispute comes ahead of the June 18 Makerfield by-election, where Restore Britain and Reform UK are competing for the same anti-establishment voters. Political analysts say the split could benefit Labour by dividing the right-wing vote. Lowe’s growing online reach has also been boosted by reposts from billionaire Elon Musk , further amplifying the controversy.
