
Indian Young Boxers Shine With Dominant Wins At Asian Championships
Indian boxers continued to impress at the Asian U-15 & U-17 Boxing Championships 2026, delivering a series of dominant and competitive performances across categories on Monday.
In the U-17 boys’ division , Yadav Yash (50kg) registered a commanding 5:0 victory over Turkmenistan’s Suleyman Ahmedov, showcasing clear superiority. Karuna Albertson Kom (60kg) also produced a strong display, securing a 4:1 win against Tajikistan’s Ali Nazarov.
However, it was a mixed outing for the rest of the contingent in this category. Gopal Rameshwar Ganeshe (52kg) fought a closely contested bout but went down narrowly 2:3 to Tajikistan’s Nazarov Damir. Mishra Prashant (57kg) faced a tough challenge against China’s Tangjie Liu and suffered a 0:5 defeat .
In the U-15 girls’ quarterfinals , Khushi Rana (49kg) delivered one of the most dominant performances of the day , winning by Referee Stops Contest (RSC) in the first round against Vietnam’s Thi Ngoc Truc Nguyen. Hanshika Attri (46kg) also impressed with a convincing 5:0 victory over Uzbekistan’s Visola Bakhtiyorova.
Nitya Pandey (55kg) showed resilience but was ultimately defeated by Kazakhstan’s Aruna Shalman after a competitive bout.
Among the U-15 boys , Samir Bohra (43kg) secured a comprehensive 5:0 win over Chinese Taipei’s Hao-Ting Chang in the preliminary round.
With a mix of dominant victories and hard-fought contests , the Indian contingent continues to demonstrate promising depth and talent across age groups as the tournament progresses in Tashkent.
