Indian wrestler Jaspreet Kaur has been sanctioned for violating anti-doping rules after testing positive for prohibited stimulants during the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China , dealing another setback to Indian wrestling.

The International Testing Agency (ITA) , acting on behalf of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) , announced on Thursday that a urine sample collected from the 65kg wrestler during in-competition testing on April 29 returned an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for octodrine (1,5-dimethylhexylamine) and its metabolite heptaminol.

According to the ITA, both substances are listed under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List as S6.B stimulants . These substances are banned during competition and are classified as specified substances. Octodrine is known to stimulate the central nervous system by increasing alertness and energy, while heptaminol is a cardiovascular stimulant that improves blood flow and heart function.

Kaur accepted the anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) and the consequences under the OCA's anti-doping regulations. As a result, all of her results from the Asian Beach Games have been disqualified.

However, the case is not yet over. The ITA said it will now evaluate the matter on behalf of United World Wrestling (UWW) to determine whether the wrestler should face additional disciplinary action under the international federation's anti-doping rules. This could include a period of ineligibility , depending on the outcome of the assessment.

The agency also clarified that the decision may be challenged before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) by eligible parties. It added that it would make no further comments while the process continues.

The development leaves Kaur awaiting a final verdict that could significantly impact her competitive future.
