Atiqa Mir , India’s rising karting sensation, showcased her exceptional talent and composure as she climbed 16 positions to finish 16th in the WSK Super Master Series Round 2 at the famous Circuit di Napoli. The 11-year-old, in only her second appearance in the junior category (ages 12-14), continues to make waves on the international stage with her speed, precision, and maturity beyond her years.

Atiqa’s weekend started strongly in the qualifying rounds , where she set the sixth fastest time in wet conditions , a remarkable achievement considering it was her first experience racing in rain at the junior level. Wet racing is particularly challenging as it drastically reduces grip , increases the risk of skidding , and demands perfect throttle control , braking , and racing line judgment . Competing at speeds of up to 130 km/h , Atiqa managed to remain composed while negotiating one of the fastest and most demanding tracks in the world, demonstrating skill reminiscent of great drivers like Max Verstappen and Ayrton Senna , who were known for their exceptional performances in wet conditions.

Her recent results also show steady progress. While she endured two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and four penalties over the weekend, which impacted her points, her performance in both qualifying and the finals highlighted her raw talent and determination. Starting from 32nd on a 42‑driver grid, Atiqa charged through the field with skillful overtakes, finishing 16th before a post‑race penalty for leaving the track and gaining a lasting advantage was applied, moving her to 18th in the official classification.

Speaking after the race, Atiqa said, “That felt like a rush. I enjoyed the Final and gave it everything. I’ve learnt so much this weekend, especially driving in wet and cold conditions, it’s very slippery at high speeds. The team has been flawless, and I’m grateful to my sponsors RAISE for supporting me.”

Her father, Asif Mir , a former National Karting champion, praised her performance: “Atiqa showed tremendous skill this weekend, particularly in wet conditions. Watching her fight through the field in only her second international weekend was special. The results don’t fully reflect the gains she made, which are very encouraging for the future.”

With her recent displays of speed, precision, and fearlessness in challenging conditions, Atiqa Mir is establishing herself as a young Indian driver to watch on the international karting circuit, hinting at a promising career ahead in motorsports.
