The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Saturday assured citizens that the country has adequate stocks of petrol, diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas ( LPG ), and that fuel supplies remain normal and uninterrupted despite growing global uncertainty triggered by the crisis in West Asia .

In an official statement, the ministry said the overall supply position across India continues to be stable, with petroleum products being made available smoothly across urban and rural regions without any shortages. The assurance comes amid concerns over the possible impact of geopolitical tensions in West Asia on global crude oil supply chains and energy markets.

The government said India’s major public sector oil marketing companies Indian Oil Corporation , Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited are maintaining sufficient reserves of fuel and are continuing regular distribution operations across the country.

According to the ministry, these companies are working in close coordination to ensure seamless movement of petroleum products from refineries and storage depots to fuel stations and LPG distribution centres. Officials said fuel stocks are being monitored continuously at the industry level and replenished regularly to avoid any disruption in supply.

The statement emphasised that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG anywhere in the country at present. Supplies are being maintained through coordinated logistics planning, efficient transportation networks and round-the-clock monitoring of retail operations.

The ministry also clarified that domestic LPG distribution has been prioritised to ensure uninterrupted supply to households. LPG deliveries are functioning normally across states, and authorities are closely observing the situation to prevent any bottlenecks in transportation or local distribution.

India, which imports a significant portion of its crude oil requirements, has been closely tracking developments in West Asia due to the region’s strategic importance in global energy trade. Rising tensions in the region have led to concerns in several countries over the possibility of disruptions in crude oil shipments and fuel availability. However, Indian authorities said adequate preparations and inventory management systems are in place to handle any temporary volatility in the international market.

Officials said oil companies have strengthened coordination related to stock movement, refinery operations, transportation and retail supply systems to maintain uninterrupted services for consumers. The ministry added that the country’s fuel infrastructure remains robust and capable of handling fluctuations arising from external geopolitical developments.

The government also appealed to citizens not to indulge in panic buying or unnecessary hoarding of fuel and LPG cylinders. It stated that normal consumption patterns should continue, as supplies remain sufficient and stable across the country.

The ministry further advised the public to rely only on official communications issued by oil marketing companies and government agencies for verified information regarding fuel availability. It cautioned against rumours or misinformation circulating on social media platforms that could create unnecessary panic among consumers.

Industry officials said retail fuel outlets and LPG agencies are operating normally, with regular replenishment schedules being maintained. There have been no reports of disruption in distribution networks in major cities, towns or rural areas.

The assurance from the government comes at a time when international energy markets are witnessing uncertainty due to ongoing geopolitical developments. Crude oil prices globally have shown fluctuations in recent days amid fears that instability in West Asia could affect production or transportation routes in the region.

Despite these concerns, Indian authorities maintained that the domestic fuel supply situation remains fully under control . Officials reiterated that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard energy security and ensure uninterrupted access to petroleum products for citizens across the country.

The ministry said continuous coordination among oil companies, transport agencies and supply chain operators would remain in place to ensure smooth operations in the coming days as well. It added that the government is monitoring the evolving international situation closely and is prepared to take additional steps if required to maintain stability in the fuel supply system.

Reiterating its assurance to the public, the ministry said consumers should remain confident about the availability of fuel and LPG supplies, as the oil industry continues to function efficiently despite global headwinds.
