Indian Navy staff kills woman, dismembers body in Visakhapatnam

A brutal murder in the outskirts of Visakhapatnam has shocked residents of Gajuwaka , with disturbing details emerging during the investigation. A man allegedly killed a woman involved in an extramarital relationship with him, dismembered her body, and attempted to dispose of the remains to evade detection.

Police identified the victim as 28-year-old Mounika Polipalli from Srikakulam district. She met Chintada Ravindra, a Navy personnel posted at INS Dega, through a dating app in 2021, and the two later developed an illicit relationship. Over time, she is believed to have taken around ₹3.5 lakh from him.

Investigators said tensions escalated in recent months, with frequent disputes over money and alleged threats to reveal the affair. Unable to cope with the situation, Ravindra is said to have plotted the murder.

On Sunday, he allegedly invited Mounika to his residence, where an argument broke out. In a fit of rage, he reportedly strangled her to death. He then cut the body into pieces, stored some parts in a refrigerator, and burned others in a secluded area to destroy evidence.

The crime came to light after locals reported suspicious activity. During questioning, Ravindra allegedly confessed , leading police to recover body parts and other evidence from multiple locations.

Police have arrested Ravindra and remanded him to judicial custody. The incident has sparked panic and outrage in the industrial locality.
