The board of Indian Gas Exchange (IGX), an associate company of Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), has approved plans to go public through an Initial Public Offering (IPO) to raise funds, the company announced on Wednesday.

IGX is a platform where buyers and sellers trade natural gas in India, similar to a stock market but for gas. It allows producers, suppliers, and large consumers such as power plants and factories to buy and sell gas in a transparent and efficient manner, helping set fair market prices.

In a regulatory filing, IGX said that its board, at a meeting held on December 2, 2025, approved the IPO process for its equity shares, each with a face value of ₹10. The public offering will be conducted through an offer for sale by certain existing and eligible shareholders.

Details regarding the size of the issue, timing, and other modalities of the IPO have not been disclosed. The company said these will be decided in due course, depending on market conditions, regulatory approvals, and other considerations.

IGX added that it will update stock exchanges on all material developments related to the IPO in accordance with applicable regulations. The move is seen as a step to strengthen the company’s capital base and support the growth of India’s natural gas market.
