In a landmark move for Indian football, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Friday opened bids for the commercial rights of the Indian Super League (ISL) and the Federation Cup , drawing a staggering Rs 2,129 crore offer from London-based Genius Sports.

Two companies, FanCode and Genius Sports , submitted bids for the men’s competitions, while Capri Sports placed a bid for the women’s leagues, including the Indian Women’s League (IWL) and IWL 2. FanCode’s bid stood at approximately Rs 1,190 crore , nearly half of Genius Sports’ record offer, while Capri Sports offered Rs 150 crore over 20 years for the women’s competitions.

The AIFF confirmed that the bids were submitted for a 15-year period with a possible five-year extension , including an annual 5% value increase and a first-refusal right for the bidder. The bid evaluation report will be placed before the AIFF Executive Committee on Sunday , and a decision is expected the same day.

Addressing concerns about Genius Sports’ credentials, AIFF Deputy General Secretary M. Satyanarayan clarified, “ Genius Sports is not a betting company. They are a data and statistics provider working with FIFA, AFC, and over 100 clubs worldwide.

The bids mark a fresh chapter for Indian football following the delayed start of the 2025-26 ISL season , which began on February 14 after months of uncertainty over the commercial partnership. The previous Master Rights Agreement with FSDL expired last December, leading to a temporary crisis. Following government intervention, all 14 clubs confirmed participation in a truncated season featuring 91 matches, with financial costs shared between clubs and the AIFF.

Earlier this year, the AIFF had floated a tender for broadcast rights for the truncated ISL, which saw FanCode securing global broadcast rights for Rs 8.62 crore , while Kaleidoscope Production and Services (KPS Studios) was awarded production rights. The latest bid process now sets the stage for a long-term commercial overhaul , potentially transforming the financial and global footprint of Indian football.
