The second edition of the Indian Film Festival in Israel opened to a spirited reception in Haifa, drawing an audience of more than 200 film lovers at its inaugural screening on Thursday night. The two-week cultural celebration began despite large-scale demonstrations in Jerusalem that caused traffic disruptions across the country.

Organised by the Embassy of India in Israel in collaboration with the Haifa Municipality, the festival aims to highlight the vibrant and diverse heritage of Indian cinema. Six critically acclaimed films from India will be showcased, reflecting the country’s artistic depth and evolving cinematic landscape.

The event comes as part of India’s broader cultural diplomacy and its push to position itself as a global film production hub. Indian Ambassador to Israel and Haifa officials inaugurated the festival, underscoring the growing cultural ties between the two nations.

The Indian mission had previously hosted a film festival in February this year, which received an overwhelming response from Israeli audiences and India enthusiasts. The success of that event encouraged the organisers to return with a second edition, further strengthening people-to-people connections through the universal language of cinema.

The ongoing festival promises to be a visual journey through India’s rich storytelling tradition, celebrating not only Bollywood but also the country’s regional film industries that continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
