Indian Army Hosts Mega Veterans Rally At Likabali To Strengthen Ex-Servicemen Outreach

The Spearhead Division of Spear Corps organised a large-scale Veterans Rally on April 26 at Likabali Military Station in coordination with the state and district administrations of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 1,500 veterans , Veer Naris, serving soldiers, next of kin (NOKs) and dependents, highlighting the enduring bond between the Armed Forces and the veteran fraternity.

The rally was aimed at reaching out to ex-servicemen and addressing pressing welfare concerns such as pension disbursement anomalies , land disputes, legal issues and other challenges faced by veterans and their families. Dedicated facilitation counters were set up to provide on-the-spot guidance and assistance, enabling veterans to resolve long-pending service-related matters and access welfare benefits.

The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd) , attended the event as Chief Guest and interacted with the gathering. Representatives from the Rajya Sainik Board Itanagar, Zila Sainik Welfare Offices of Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA) Guwahati, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), record offices, various banks and officials from civil administration were present to assist veterans in resolving grievances and provide guidance on welfare schemes.

Participants were also sensitised about resettlement initiatives and second career opportunities facilitated by the Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) . In addition, a comprehensive medical camp was organised to address the healthcare needs of veterans and their families attending the rally.

During the programme, Veer Naris, Veer Matas, Veer Putris, special children and distinguished veteran achievers were felicitated by the Chief Guest in recognition of their resilience, dedication and contributions to society.

In his address, the Governor highlighted the invaluable contributions made by veterans and the supreme sacrifices of soldiers in service to the nation. He also spoke about pension-related matters and welfare schemes while appreciating the wholehearted support extended by civil administration in organising the event.

The rally also featured a vibrant cultural programme presented by students of Sainik School Ruksin and cadets of the National Cadet Corps, reflecting patriotic fervour and youthful enthusiasm.
