
Indian Army boxers underline depth with eight-medal haul at Asian Championships
Indian Army boxers underlined their growing stature on the continental stage, returning with an eight-medal haul including three gold at the Asian Boxing Championships in Mongolia, while reinforcing their credentials through consistent performances across levels.
Among the standout performers, Vishwanath Suresh continued his rise as one of India’s most promising boxers in the lower weight categories. Known for his speed and technical sharpness, he has been a regular on the domestic circuit and is now translating that form into international success , clinching gold in the 50kg division.
Sachin Siwach , who secured silver in the 60kg category, has also shown steady progress in recent years. A composed and tactically aware boxer, he has delivered consistent results in national championships and selection trials, establishing himself as a dependable contender.
In the heavyweight division, Narender Berwal once again demonstrated his experience, adding a bronze medal to his record. A regular face in India’s international squads, Berwal has played a key role in maintaining the country’s competitiveness in the heavier categories. Fellow bronze medallists Akash and Lokesh have similarly been part of India’s strong domestic pool, contributing to the team’s overall depth.

Jaismine Lamboria , who claimed silver in the 57kg division, remains one of India’s more experienced names, having represented the country at major events like the Commonwealth Games . Her consistency continues to be a valuable asset for the squad.
Completing the gold tally, Arundhati Chaudhary delivered an impressive performance in the 70kg category, underlining her emergence as a rising force in women’s boxing.
