Chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday on a three-day official visit aimed at further strengthening the longstanding defence cooperation and strategic partnership between the two neighbouring countries.

According to the Sri Lanka Air Force, Singh arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport and will remain in the island nation until May 21.

On arrival, the Indian Air Force Chief was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Sri Lanka Air Force headquarters, reflecting the close military ties shared by the two nations.

During the visit, Singh paid floral tributes at the Indian Peace Keeping Force Memorial in Battaramulla, honouring Indian soldiers who served in Sri Lanka during the IPKF operations.

He later held official discussions with his Sri Lankan counterpart, Air Marshal VB Edirisinghe, focusing on bilateral defence cooperation , military exchanges and regional security collaboration.

The Indian Air Force Chief also met Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekera and Defence Secretary Sampath Thuiyakontha during his engagements in Colombo.

As part of the visit, Singh is scheduled to seek blessings at the historic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy and will also call on the Commanders of the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy.
